Country Classification by S.D. Leacock
In the S.D. Leacock entitled "Elements of Political Science", S.D. Leacock argues that classifying the state into despotic states and democratic states is a sign of defining the fundamental forms of state rather than all modern states.
So first of all, Leacock classified countries into two types, namely despotic countries and democratic countries. Then the democratic state was further divided into a limited kingdom and a republic.
Each of these is further defined into a unitary state and a federation state. Even though each of them is still further divided into, whether the country has a parliament or not.
